Where is Fallout 76 the lost millions.?
G2A killed Telltale why would you buy the game for 30$ when you can buy it for 6$ of course the thinking of most people myself included (till i realized/ found out these were stolen keys). not realizing how badly this was killing them in the process. I wish I could of helped TellTale I bought pretty much every game they have made and have played through them all to completion. I did change the way I bought games after they went under but yea I think thats the real reason telltale went under.
Control really is underrated. The story line is confusing but the gameplay is good enough to help you forget about that.
Rather hilarious to see that there are still people who think that it's a good idea to exclude potential customers with exclusive deals.
One would think that almost every business concept requires the existence of customers…
Was control any good, it did look poor
You guys forgot about the marketing employed by Bethesda, at the time of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus's release.
Which was immensely politicized, with slogans such as "Make America Nazi-Free Again".
This turned Trump supports and people who didn't care for politics away in droves.
Despite how much Everybody LOVES KNACK 2, BABY! it actually did pretty bad in sales aswell.
My takeaway – Exclusivity = more likely to bomb
Typical WC Video. DS was the most selling new ip of this generation in Japan for example. Stop talking nonsense please 🙄
Max Payne 2 was the best of the series. Shame no one played it.
Death stranding is boring as f-
Max Payne 2 was an awesome game. Had a great combat for its time.
Control is an excellent game
No we all knew skyward sword bombed
I’m I the only one that loves death stranding?
I hope the next time Kojima decides to make a game it support other platforms like MGS. Being in one console will hurt your earnings
Death Stranding is by far the worst and stupid game I play this generation. Absolut nothing in this game worked.
neither the story the gameplay nor the characters and world.
6:47 "…and Assassin's Creed Odyssey…"
Assassin's Creed Origins. Odyssey was released a year later.
RE4 success is why we got RE5 and RE6….
I never heard of skyward sword
I love me some max payne 2
With regard to Wolfenstein II: New Colossus, another contributing factor was the social justice/political shaming ("alt-right" labels and such) leading up to the release. When you inject that into an environment where personal politics shouldn't be a thing (people game to ESCAPE things that suck), you will pull a negative reaction almost every time. Luckily, I ignored that and played the game day 1 and thoroughly enjoyed the game in its entirety. I highly recommend that game!
I gotta give it to Rockstar, they're really milking GTA 5 by turning it in to a live service game. As much as I would have loved some campaign DLC, they've done a good job at keeping their cash cow alive all these years later.
I liked skyward sword but the stealth sections ruined it for me. I just stopped playing on the last one.
Rockstar must be TOO successfull. If they remaster Manhunt and re release Max Payne 2012 on PS4 I will rush out and buy both immediately and I'm not alone.
am i the only one that thinks control is such a BAD and disappointing game?
Death stranding’s issue was everyone had forgotten about it before it was even release, how many time do they have to fail before game developers learn
NEVER ANNOUNCE THE GAME BEFORE IT’S RELEASE IS UNDER A YEAR AWAY
I am positive that the public numbers surrounding telltale games are incorrect and/or just flat out falsified, I get that the sales would have been less with each game on account of watching a YouTube let’s play of a telltale game was only slightly less entertaining than actually playing it but still. There was definitely some shady stuff going on with the telltale execs around the time of their collapse
I blame most of this on game design
I never heard of skyward sword until a few years ago lol
And wolfenstein 2 failed because of the marketing not the release date
not gonna support by buying bad games lol
Damn, sucks about Control. I bought the game and it is damn good. Hope the GOTY awards made more people pick it up like me
Kojima needs to buy licenses to Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill.
enjoyed death stranding a lot.. but yeah.. in the end, its not indusry changing, genre defining game like everyone make it out to be… Moment to moment gameplay is chill, ok… replayability Zero.. so its natural it would have flopped.
Control was marketed as an rtx game, so I'm sure it's sales reflect how many people got a rtx gpu. I know thats why I haven't gotten it yet. But it I will… In the far future.
I haven't played any on this list but heard good things about some of them. Market is saturated with games.
Companies are killing their games because of Epic games store. I dont even play on PC but there's and absolute overwhelming amount of people that despise it. I see why devs see it as an opportunity to get their money back on their game, but time has shown that the consumer is the most important.
Max Payne 3 deserved it for abandoning noir. I LOVED 1 and 2.
@6:46 just wanted to correct you mate, I know you’re trying to make your argument but you got the date wrong for AC Odyssey
Hey Jules, you know that Super Mario Odyssey came out on October 27th, 2017 and that assassins creed odyssey didn’t come out until October 5th, 2018 right?
I'm genuinely confused about the praise Control got. I was very excited for the game and in the end it was a disappointment. The characters were all very bland with little expression. Especially Jesse, the main character; her reactions and expressions to things were just "Oh…okay" the entire game. Story was pretty meh with little explanation to anything (I was far more interested in the Motel and the Altered Items and what they did than anything else in the game). Many of the events of the game just felt coincidental or irrelevant. And the gameplay…oh the gameplay. It had so much potential and bombed so hard. It was incredibly laggy and quite often just skipped around at 5fps or so, abilities were never really useful, and having enemies spawn in rooms you were in 5 seconds ago and cleared out was annoying. The Ashtray Maze was the one time in the game I really was enjoying myself.
I played this on PS4 and I don't know if it was just that version where the lagging happened constantly or what but I am honestly surprised I pushed through it and even platinumed the game (was a very very easy platinum).
Hideo Kajima is to video games what George Lucas is to movies.
I wanted to play Control but I was playing Death Stranding at the time and I have a bad habit of taking months to finish games. Especially if it’s open world.
I bought Star Wars instead of Death Stranding at the time I’ll buy it eventually lol I just now got around to buying Days Gone
Never even heard of skyward sword
Does your list include digital sales
I’m i the only person that has never heard of control till now
You will soon be able to add The Last of Us 2 to this list
